Hit a wall or not sure where to start?
What your body needs from movement changes as life changes, and a routine that served you well before won’t always serve you as well now. This means that if something feels like it’s stopped working, it probably has. The good news is that it doesn’t take more effort or more hours to feel the difference, just the right things done consistently and in the right way for you.
So, what might your body be asking for?
1. Movement that meets you where you are
Whether you’ve been exercising for years or haven’t quite found your ‘thing’ yet, the most important thing is that what you’re doing is right for your body – not a generic programme designed for everyone and therefore perfect for no one. That means movement which takes into account the shoulder that’s been grumbling, the hip that needs more attention, and the energy levels that change from week to week, adjusting as you do rather than asking you to keep up regardless of how you feel.
2. A reason to keep coming back
Starting something new is one thing, but staying consistent is where most people struggle, and it’s rarely about willpower. The routines that stick are the ones that feel genuinely good to return to. The hour feels like yours, where you leave feeling better than when you walked in, and where the people around you make you want to show up whether you’ve been coming for three weeks or three years. That sense of belonging and genuinely looking forward to something is incredibly powerful.
3. Somewhere to go next (whatever your starting point)
A good movement practice doesn’t stay the same forever. It meets you at the beginning if you’re new, builds your foundation steadily, and then evolves with you as you get stronger and more confident, introducing new challenges, new progressions and new tools at exactly the right moment so you’re always moving forward without ever feeling overwhelmed, lost, or like you’ve hit a ceiling.
