Building strength that actually lasts: 3 things that make the difference

A lot of people come to us wanting to feel stronger. And the good news is that building real, lasting strength isn’t complicated, it just requires the right ingredients.

Here are the three things we come back to again and again with our members:

1. Build a routine you can actually keep

The most effective strength programme in the world won’t work if you can’t stick to it. Consistency beats intensity every time, and this is especially true as we get older.

That’s why our Mat Pilates classes are the foundation of everything we do at the Studio. A regular weekly class builds the kind of strength that compounds over time — the sort that means you notice the difference not just in the studio, but carrying the shopping, walking the hills, and getting through your day with energy to spare.

It doesn’t have to be every day, it just has to be regular.

2. Give your body somewhere to go next

Once you’ve built your foundation, your body needs a new challenge to keep progressing. This is called progressive overload, and it’s one of the most important and most overlooked parts of building strength.

This is where the Springboard comes in. Our Springboard classes use resistance and load to take your strength to the next level – building on everything your body has already learned in Mat, and giving it something more to work with. It means you keep getting stronger rather than plateauing.

3. Do it with teachers who understand your body

Strength training done wrong, or without proper guidance, can do more harm than good, especially if you’re working around an old injury or coming back from something. Having expert eyes in the room means every exercise is right for your body on that day.

Our teaching team has over 150 combined years of experience. They know how to push you forward safely – and they’ll never let you do something that works against you.
