Inside Scoop

Has your routine looked a little different over the last few weeks?

Why do we often feel stiff when we get back to the things we love?

One of the biggest misconceptions we hear is“I’ve become less flexible.” In reality, that’s rarely what’s happened.

After a few quieter weeks, your body has simply become a little less prepared for the movements you’re asking it to do. If you haven’t been walking as much, your hips, ankles and balance haven’t had as much practice. If the gardening has taken a back seat, your body hasn’t been bending, twisting and lifting as regularly.

That doesn’t mean you’ve gone backwards. It just means your body needs a little reminder.

The wonderful thing about our bodies is how well they adapt. Give them the right movement consistently, and they’ll usually respond remarkably quickly.

A simple habit that can make a big difference

Before heading out for a walk, tackling the garden or getting back to your favourite sport, spend just five minutes preparing your body.

Ask yourself:

  • How are my hips feeling today?
  • Does my back feel ready to bend and twist?
  • Have I woken up my legs and balance?

It doesn’t have to be a long workout. Often, a handful of gentle movements beforehand is enough to help the activity itself feel easier and leave you feeling better afterwards.

It’s a simple habit, but one that many people overlook.

That’s where Pilates fits in

One of the reasons we love Pilates so much is that it isn’t just about the hour you spend in class.

Every session is helping you prepare for everything else you enjoy doing. Whether that’s walking the dog, gardening all afternoon, playing tennis, exploring a new city on holiday or simply feeling more comfortable moving through everyday life, Pilates builds the strength, mobility and confidence that supports it all.

We often say that our goal isn’t to make you better at Pilates.

It’s to help you enjoy the life you want to live outside the studio.

If you’re considering starting Pilates, or if you’ve tried it elsewhere and it didn’t quite feel right, we’d love for you to come and experience the difference for yourself with the New Member Intro Offer
